The Refuge Center for Counseling, Inc. received a grant from The Baptist Healing Trust, which awarded funds totaling more than $1.5 million recently to 44 charities for a variety of health related projects, according to President & CEO Erie Chapman. The mission of the Trust is to be a caring ministry devoted to healing with love in the Christian tradition. "The Refuge Center exists as a beautiful sanctuary offering light and hope to many who suffer in the darkness of emotional trauma. The Baptist Healing Trust is grateful to provide support and funding for such a wonderful oasis. The Refuge Center for Counseling’s grant was for $12,477 and will be used for EMDR Therapy for Trauma Survivors. The Refuge Center for Counseling, based in Franklin, Tenn., provides a variety of professional counseling services to individuals, couples and families regardless of income. Its fees are based on a sliding scale that ranges from $10 to $85. Since opening in 2005, The Refuge Center has served more than 1,500 individuals and families. The Refuge Center has a satellite office in Davidson County and works with the Hope House in Maury County.
Recipients of the contributions include non-profit organizations from all over Middle Tennessee working to help create access to quality, compassionate health services for the community’s vulnerable. This year’s grants bring the collective grant making of the Baptist Healing Trust to more than $46 million since 2002. The Baptist Healing Trust was created when Baptist Hospital in Nashville sold to Ascension Health in St. Louis, Missouri.
